Development study of the seaside resort of Taghazout

Client: SAPST

Location: Aourir

Date: 2019

The resort of Aourir is full of natural landscaped elements which give it a distinguished character of its own.
It offers a unique view of the Atlantic and a beach known worldwide for its waves suitable for surfers.
The approximately 10 km of beach are bordered by the High Atlas mountains. Which makes the panorama more picturesque.
In order to enhance the natural wealth of the resort, the landscaping will be based on ecological and integral elements. Street furniture is primarily based on wood and metal. The lighting consumes little and is well hidden with the simplicity and finesse of the landscaped setting.
The proposed plant palette is focused on endemic species in Morocco and more specifically in the South of Morocco.
To get people to frequent the places, green spaces for rest and play have been considered.
This type of space allows users to be in direct contact with the natural elements and will awaken their appetite for nature.
The resort, with its natural character, becomes a haven of peace and well-being, nestled away from the daily hassle

The outdoor amenity green space will adopt the same rocky dry garden style that exists on the resort.
This type of space is important in populated areas. It attracts visitors and invites them to go outdoors and enjoy nature more. It allows exchanges that take place naturally between users.
Free mineralized surfaces are integrated to allow users to appropriate the environments and animate them as they wish.
Decorative elements in the form of wooden lattice balls of different sizes are to be considered. These structures will be planted with climbing plants and will provide a touch that marks the layout by making it unique to the resort (see image on the left).

The maritime promenade runs along the entire seaside front which links the resort of Aourir and that of Taghazout.
It forms a green corridor that surrounds visitors looking for a stroll with a view of the Atlantic.
Benches will be dotted around this walkway to allow rest and to ensure that the use of this element is pleasant to all age groups and types of physical condition.

The type of vegetation will align with what exists and what is recommended in the landscape charter.
Rocks and pebbles will complete the atmosphere sought by the chosen vegetation.

The landscaping of car parks is essential especially in arid climates. The sidewalks bordering the parking spaces will be planted with large-scale trees to provide shade.

The green strips interspersed with the parking lines will be planted by beds of grasses given their narrowness.

The more vegetation we have in this type of bituminous space, the less heat we will have.

The vegetation allows the regulation of temperatures linked to urban agglomerations and therefore will ensure a cooler atmosphere for visitors to the resort.

The station sidewalks will all be planted. The widest with a double alignment and the narrowest with a single alignment. Thus we favor a comfortable shaded pedestrian circulation.

Greenery square areas in residences can be viewed as private home gardens but open to residents.

They are an extension of the houses and therefore must harmonize with the architectural spirit of the building.

The type of vegetation will follow the same spirit of the station without being monotonous.

A game of species with different foliage and blooms will enliven the place.

The sqaure areas facing the house facades will have less plant density to enhance the building and the others will have more density to introduce more plant variety and make nature within reach.
